The Story of the Woman Who Complained to Allah

A woman named Khawlah bint Tha’labah came to the Prophet ﷺ, complaining about her husband who wronged her through the practice of Zihar (a pre-Islamic custom where a husband says to his wife: “You are like my mother,” making her haram for him).

She pleaded, but the Prophet ﷺ remained silent. Suddenly, Allah revealed verses in her favor:

🔹 “Indeed, Allah has heard the statement of the woman who argues with you about her husband and complains to Allah. And Allah hears your conversation. Verily, Allah is All-Hearing, All-Seeing.”

(Quran 58:1)

Allah then abolished Zihar and gave women their rights in marriage!

Tafsir Ibn Kathir, Surah Al-Mujadilah

The Story of the Companion Who Wanted Paradise

One day, the Prophet ﷺ was sitting with his companions when he said:

“A man from Paradise will enter now.”

Everyone turned to see, and a simple man from the Ansar entered, his beard dripping with fresh wudu water, carrying his sandals in his left hand.

The next day, the Prophet ﷺ repeated:

“A man from Paradise will enter now.”
And the same man entered.

On the third day, the Prophet ﷺ said the same words, and again, the same man entered.

Abdullah ibn Amr (RA), curious about this man’s deeds, stayed with him for three nights. He saw nothing extraordinary—the man prayed his usual prayers and didn’t fast extra. Finally, Abdullah asked:

“What makes you special that the Prophet ﷺ said you are from Paradise?”

The man replied humbly:

“I don’t do anything extra, but I make sure my heart is clean from hatred, jealousy, or bad feelings toward anyone.”

The Story of the Man Who Gave Water to a Dog

The Prophet ﷺ said:

A man was once walking on a road when he felt extremely thirsty. He found a well, climbed down, and drank water. When he came back up, he saw a dog panting with thirst, licking the wet ground in desperation. The man said to himself, ‘This dog is as thirsty as I was.’ So, he climbed back into the well, filled his shoe with water, and gave it to the dog to drink.

“Allah appreciated his act and forgave his sins.”

The companions asked: “O Messenger of Allah, do we get a reward for being kind to animals?”

The Prophet ﷺ replied:

“Yes, there is a reward for kindness to every living creature.”

Sahih al-Bukhari 2363, Sahih Muslim 2244

The Prophet ﷺ narrated:

Three men from the past were traveling and took shelter in a cave. Suddenly, a huge rock rolled down and blocked the entrance. They were trapped with no way out.

Each of them decided to seek Allah’s help by mentioning a good deed they had done sincerely for His sake.

1️⃣ First man:
“O Allah, I had two elderly parents. Every night, I would serve them milk before my children. One night, I was delayed, and when I returned, they had fallen asleep. I waited with the milk in my hand, refusing to give it to my children until they awoke. O Allah, if I did this for Your pleasure, then move the rock.”
The rock moved slightly.

2️⃣ Second man:
“O Allah, I loved my cousin deeply, and I wanted to commit sin with her. She refused until one day she was in great need of money. She agreed for 100 gold coins, but when I was about to commit the sin, she said, ‘Fear Allah!’ So I left her despite having the chance. O Allah, if I did this for Your sake, then move the rock.”
The rock moved further.

3️⃣ Third man:
“O Allah, I hired a worker and agreed to pay him, but he left without taking his wages. I invested it until it grew into a large herd. When he returned years later, I told him, ‘All of this belongs to you.’ He took everything without hesitation. O Allah, if I did this for Your sake, then move the rock.”
The rock moved completely, and they escaped.
