Do People Change More Because of Inspiration or Desperation?
I used to believe change came from inspiration.
A powerful book. A life-changing TED talk. A success story that lights a fire in you. Sounds nice. But I think desperation moves people faster.
No one wakes up one day inspired to quit a toxic job.
They leave because they can’t take it anymore.
No one casually decides to get healthy.
They do it when a doctor gives them a wake-up call.
No one suddenly starts chasing their dream.
They do it when staying the same feels unbearable.
My biggest changes in life didn’t come from motivation.
They came from hitting rock bottom and realizing that if I don’t change now, I never will.
Pain forces action.
Comfort delays it.
So, if you’re waiting to feel inspired before making a move?
You’ll be waiting a long time.
